The Gregg County Historical Museum has more than 50 volunteers who serve on a regular basis throughout the year. Docents teach and lead tours for the second, third and seventh grade students in our educational program. Docents are also instructors for group tours. Volunteers in the teller's cage greet visitors at the museum. They give an introduction to the guests who may choose a self-guided tour or a volunteer-led tour throughout the museum. Clerical volunteers assist the staff wherever needed. Library volunteers maintain the records of our Texana library. Photographic assistants document the museum's photo collections and provide service to persons needing certain historic photographs. Volunteers for special events assist in numerous capacities throughout the year. These assignments are filled by regular museum volunteers and others who serve during special events. |
